First Biodynamic Wool Supply Chain

This is a project run by Deborah Barker through her organization Southeast England Fibreshed. Deborah is a biodynamic medicinal herb grower and her daughter, Gala, is a biodynamic shepherdess. Deborah has been working to create a value chain of biodynamic wool farmers across the UK. Currently, there are only very small quantities of biodynamic wool in the UK from Gala's and a small number of other farmers' flocks. Because of this, biodynamic wool is only being processed once every two years. As a result, it is important to grow the biodynamic wool supply chain, as well as connect biodynamic farmers all together into a collective to inspire more farmers to transition to this way of raising sheep and regenerating soil simultaneously. Following this, there will be biodynamic wool on the marketplace for fashion and furniture makers to source, thereby growing the biodynamic movement as a whole. DIRT is raising funds to support Deborah in fulfilling this goal by sponsoring 4 stages of development: research, increasing supply of biodynamic wool, implementation and rollout and investing into infrastructure.
